What an apprenticeship is not?

A stereotype associated with apprenticeships are that they are synonymous with blue collar trades but that just isn’t true. Apprenticeship subjects have broadened over the years, and they are attached to a vast variety of occupations. Although Teconnex is an engineering/manufacturing company we do offer apprenticeships in different departments including IT, sales and marketing.

How long does an apprenticeship last?

The length will depend on which apprenticeship has been undertaken and this could be anything from 18 months to 48 months.

What entry requirements do they need to meet?

As a minimum we would prefer your child to have GCSE’s Maths & English at grade 4-9, live within commutable distance from their place of work and be able to work in the UK.

Teconnex is committed to equal opportunities and all applications from suitably qualified people will be welcome.

Will my child be paid whilst they are completing their apprenticeship?

From the very start of their apprenticeship your child will earn a wage with minimum wage rates for certain ages being set by the government. Here at Teconnex we will always pay more than the minimum rate as we see our new apprentices as the future of our business and want to pay them accordingly.

What support will my child receive during their apprenticeship?

On day one each apprentice is assigned a mentor who will be their experienced and trusted advisor to support them with the practical side of the apprenticeship. Each apprentice will also receive a buddy to support them navigate through the first few months in a new company and be there on hand to answer any questions.

When the apprenticeship ends is that it?

No. All apprentices that pass their qualification and have a good record within the business will be offered a guaranteed full-time contract. It also doesn’t mean their career progression is going to stop either. We like to support our apprentices throughout their career with us by offering further education and there are plenty of possibilities within our whole global network to have a go at. An apprenticeship with Teconnex is just the beginning!
