Pune milestone: expanding our capabilities in India
September marked an important milestone for our operations in India, with colleagues, customers and partners coming together in Pune to celebrate the launch of new manufacturing, engineering and global support capabilities.
The developments include new SaveGuard manufacturing capabilities, the launch of the Hexadex Global Capability Centre (GCC) and the opening of a new Engineering Test Centre.
Together, they represent the next stage in the development of our India operation – expanding what we can manufacture locally, strengthening our engineering expertise and creating new ways for teams in India to support Hexadex businesses around the world.
SaveGuard manufacturing comes to Pune
On 8 September, we officially inaugurated SaveGuard’s new manufacturing capabilities at our Pune facility.
SaveGuard specialises in engineered thermal and acoustic insulation solutions. In Pune, the team will manufacture precision-engineered support mats used within exhaust aftertreatment systems. These mats sit between the ceramic substrate and metal canister, helping to protect and support the substrate under demanding thermal and mechanical conditions.
Bringing this capability to India complements the manufacturing processes already established at Teconnex India and allows us to provide customers with more connected manufacturing support.
Quality is built into the operation at every stage, from incoming material inspection and precision cutting through to final verification. Local manufacturing also creates opportunities to work more closely with customers throughout the journey, from initial RFQ through to production.
Around 100 customers joined colleagues, business partners and representatives from India, the UK and across the wider Group for the inauguration. The event provided an opportunity to see the new operation first-hand and discuss the future of thermal management across passenger and commercial vehicle applications.
It was also an opportunity to recognise the engineers, manufacturing teams, quality specialists and application experts whose work made the new capability possible.
What is the Global Capability Centre?
Alongside the manufacturing expansion, Hexadex has launched a new Global Capability Centre, or GCC, in Pune.
Put simply, the GCC brings specialist teams in India together to provide expertise and support to Hexadex businesses around the world.
The initial focus is on finance and engineering, creating a platform through which India-based colleagues can collaborate with international teams, contribute to global projects and share specialist knowledge across the Group.
The GCC is an important part of our One Hexadex strategy. It is designed to:
- strengthen collaboration between teams and locations;
- build scalable capabilities;
- create opportunities for colleagues in India to contribute to international projects;
- improve knowledge sharing across our businesses; and
- support more connected ways of working across the Group.
The ambition is to develop these capabilities further by 2030, enabling the Pune GCC to support more businesses across the Hexadex Group.
This is not simply about moving activities to a different location. It is a long-term investment in people, knowledge and capability, combining the experience of our businesses around the world with the talent and expertise available in India.
Strengthening engineering and validation
The Pune site has also opened a new Engineering Test Centre, strengthening the engineering, validation and technical capabilities available locally.
The centre brings key product testing and validation activities in-house, giving our teams greater ability to assess performance, investigate issues and support product development with greater speed and consistency.
Dedicated testing infrastructure will help engineers evaluate ideas, refine designs and share technical knowledge. It will also support closer collaboration between our India-based engineers and colleagues across Teconnex and the wider Hexadex Group.
Building on our journey in India
These developments build on a journey that began in 2019.
Since then, our India operation has grown to more than 200 people, approximately 100,000 sq. ft. of space, with more than 30 million Teconnex clamps manufactured.
The latest investment demonstrates how that role continues to evolve. Pune is developing not only as a manufacturing location, but as a centre for engineering, technical expertise and global business support.
SaveGuard expands what we can manufacture. The Engineering Test Centre strengthens how we develop and validate products. And the GCC connects expertise in India with teams and requirements across the wider Group.
Different capabilities, but one shared direction: building stronger connections between our people and businesses and creating the capabilities we will need for the future.
